About STEM Seeds

STEM Seeds is a hands-on workshop for youth to help create initial exposure to STEM. The goal of our classes is to spark an interest in STEM, making science and engineering more accessible to everyone. Participants will work through different project challenges that will draw upon teamwork, determination, creativity, and problem-solving skills.

Makers will be given a variety of interactive design challenges, such as the Egg Drop, Paper Airplane Design, Balloon Car Creation, Tower Construction, Foil Boat Float, and a Mini Table
Balance Test. Each of these activities creates an introduction through everyday objects that allows participants to see the presence of STEM in their everyday lives. By working through the challenges, learners will develop many skills, including:

Collaboration: Working together in groups will enable participants to gain interpersonal skills.
Creativity: Participants will utilize and develop their creativity to find unique solutions to challenges.
Perseverance: Students will develop determination skills through trial and error to solve the challenge.
Problem-solving: Participants will learn to approach challenges from a variety of different perspectives to overcome obstacles.
Organization Skills: Learners will develop planning skills to achieve the goal of completing each challenge.

STEM Seeds will help plant a seed of curiosity and interest in STEM, making science and
engineering available for all!
